Meaning

1. Give someone room to keep doing what they’re doing without interrupting.
2. Used to hype someone on a roll, often sarcastically for something small.

“He’s three slides into an unnecessary PowerPoint. Let him cook.”

Where it came from

Rapper Lil B used “cooking” to mean taking your time and working with care as early as 2010. Sports commentators picked up “let him cook” for players on a hot streak, most visibly during the 2020 “Let Russ Cook” campaign for Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, and it later spread as a general meme phrase.
