Meaning

1. An older man, used as a familiar term of address regardless of blood relation.
2. An older person seen as out of touch, often teased for it.

Where it came from

The word shortens uncle, a long standing respectful term of address in African American Vernacular English for an older man. Gen Alpha slang added a teasing edge in the early 2020s, using it to needle a sibling or parent for being out of touch.
